this new painting was so fun to watch evolve! and luckily i video recorded and photographed it all!
now i realize she was all about dreams and dreaming from the very start!
she started very plain and dark
until i gave her more color… then she started dreaming.
and her entire world turned blue.
i colored in the water around her too and felt like she was on a stage. so i found a scene of venice in my vintage postcard collection and added it to look like a movie set.
then she started to get her shape and returned to an all white world. i could still tell she was in a dream though.
so i glued on a few more mixed media elements…like the illustration from a guidebook for her belly and origami paper circles to match the ruffles leftover from the stage.

to me, she’s all about dreams and keeping them alive by remembering they can always be SWEET ON YOU.
