Painting this owl reminded me to trust in the creative process, be bold and find joy in beautiful mistakes.
I had intended to paint a close up owl, but when I went ahead and created my background, I was in the mood to layer lots and lots of bleeding art tissue paper. And if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that sometimes the bleeding art tissue can lead to some major color splurges and blends, and not always just where I’d like. That’s part of the beauty of it.
But I painted this owl as one of the projects for HOW TO PAINT AN OWL 2, so I knew I had to take my own advice and just try something, knowing I could cover it up if I didn’t like it.

I fell in love with the ways the colors popped and merged when I added my top coat. And added a bit of acrylic paint, sharpie paint markers and ink on top of the tissue to make everything blend together.
And from there, this owl got its title and story…
With faith, this owl flies always connecting with a deep SENSE OF PURPOSE.
