I created two very special owl paintings for the HeARTFUL Soul Woodland Wonders Auction.
The auction is open for bidding for 24hrs, beginning Thursday 6/2/16 12:00 PM EST through Friday 6/3/16 12:00PM EST.
I had so much fun layering some of my favorite art supplies like inks, acrylics and tissue papers. Then I found some gold leaf in my art supply closet… I cannot believe I have never used it before. I am just in love with the shine and can’t stop using it!

For this owl, I started with a background of ink circles that reminded me of floating flowers.
I wanted to keep that feeling of spring and renewal. I layered tissue papers, origami papers, chalk, acrylics and oils to create more softness and added gold leaf for a bit of richness.
It was an exercise in staying wild and free, and so I titled this painting as a reminder to always live out your dreams and let your sparkle shine WITH GRACE and FREEDOM.

To create this piece, I had so much fun going back to some of my favorite supplies and techniques. I cut out all sorts of diamond shapes from origami papers and layered them with inks and acrylics to create a look of butterflies soaring into the sky. Owls are especially close to my heart.
I titled this painting as a reminder to remain true to yourself and follow your own heart with the utmost DEVOTION, knowing that in letting go, it is possible to soar with wings of gold.
