“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.” ― Vincent van Gogh
……………..
with my newest workshop HOW TO PAINT AN OWL 2 coming up, my mind is all about owls.
i always seem to find owls, wherever i go. and this painting was one that came about after i caught sight of an owl outside my balcony at the beach.
brian had just arrived, and we stood, listening to the waves and watching the stars when suddenly between the street lights i saw these enormous wings.
sure enough. it was an owl. and it flew right past our balcony and landed on the lampost below.

and from that owl, this painting got its title and story…
this owl takes time to breathe, knowing the future in all of its goodness is always UNFOLDING.

Lately I’ve been going back to painting owls. For awhile I had been creating these very renaissance-style portraits with soft, realistic faces and incredible hair. I enjoyed that I could make them look very human, but still full of magic and color. While I still adore creating these flower girls, I found that these paintings were missing something. After countless attempts in the studio, many... Continue reading

Well. If that owl flying by you wasn't a sign, I don't know what is. Your owl is beautiful!
