This paintings is one of the projects included in my online class Happy Painting – A Mini Course.
It is one of my favorite class projects because I had so much fun adding all of the layers.
This painting started as a drawing exercise where I experimented with sketching symbols and making marks. From there, I layered lots of papers, oils and water-based art supplies.
I love how a painting can evolve. For me, my backgrounds always inspire the final piece.
So often I completely cover the entire background. And, at times, it feels like such a waste of work and supplies. But I cannot create my mixed media paintings any other way.
To me, it is all of the layers that give each painting its unique story.
For this piece I combined lots of my favorite art supplies… origami papers, oil paintsticks, tissue papers, acrylics, water soluble oil pastels, inks, pencil and paint pens.
This painting is all about remaining focused and moving forward, even when things feel like they are falling so out of place and you can no longer go on. Stay steady and March Ahead, Faithfully, With Your Dreams.
