When I’m stuck with my art, I go back to painting owls and using my favorite cobalt teal or florescent pink hues.
The owl that’s featured in my Free Painting Workshop is one of my favorites to create, especially when I need to have fun and play (click HERE if you’d like to join my free painting class).
But the other day I was struggling to be loose with my art. I just couldn’t get any of my paintings to fall into place (not even an owl). It wasn’t until I got out a few unfinished pieces that were all stuck at an ugly stage that I finally started to let go.
I wasn’t afraid to ruin my ugly paintings, so I didn’t care about covering them up. I splattered and dripped inks on top. I made a total mess… and soon a few owls emerged.
Whenever I play, it helps me feel calm and connected. Then I can follow my heart and paint without the pressure of everything having to be perfect.
Happy painting!
