I started out painting abstracts.
But it wasn’t until I added whimsical characters to my artwork that I finally felt connected to my paintings.
When I add my characters, there’s something in the eyes that hits my heart.
I feel a connection that I don’t want to paint over.
It’s almost like looking into a mirror and I find that I paint until I feel a resonance with my heart.
But a lot of times I get stuck with my art. This usually means I’ve reached an ugly stage and need to return to play.
With this new painting, I had so much fun going back to my abstract roots and just playing with color, which mostly got covered up, but inspired her shape. She’s called ‘Emissary Of Luck And Light’ 30” x 40” on stretched canvas.
This piece is literally so much larger than life. As I was painting her, I was reminded of the majesty of trees. My studio is surrounded by pines and oaks which invoke such magic, so she’s meant to reflect a rising strength and wild freedom that I feel whenever I’m in nature. I hope she inspires you too!
There’s another larger painting I’m working on that I’m so excited to share with you soon (she’s almost finished)!
I’d be honored to have you join me for this new class. It’s going to be so good and I can’t wait to see the gorgeous paintings you create!
With love + gratitude,
