I’ve been busy painting in my backyard, finishing up a few large pieces. I always try and remember to have fun with whatever I’m creating. If I think too much about the end result or painting what’s in my head or trying to paint like someone else, I either freeze or paint something lifeless.
But I’m also trying to go a bit easier on myself. My mantra for this year has been “Keep Your Cup Filled.”
I find that creating revitalizes my spirit, making me feel most like myself, so I try to create something everyday, whether that’s painting or writing or sketching or playing with inks on a new canvas.
But I’m also remembering that if I don’t finish a piece, that’s okay.
It’s enough that I feel creative.
I spent so much time trying to push myself and hustle and reach specific goals that I’d forgotten to enjoy the journey and soak in the beauty of life.
That’s why now, it’s so important for me to create and just have fun with it, in the moment. Then that joy gets infused into all other areas of my life and continues to fill me up. From there, I have more to share and can be of some help and inspiration for others too.
