i have ALWAYS wanted my pilot’s license, but when brian put a 1PM appointment on my calendar, i had no idea that’s what i was about to do!
i was told that my surprise depended on the weather and that it was something i’d be doing alone. i was thinking an afternoon massage, horseback riding lessons, i wasn’t really sure. we hopped on the motorcycle and rode and as we got closer, the clues kept coming and i still had no idea. then when i saw a plane landing ahead, i thought, “no way!” my stomach sort of dropped a bit. i mean, i’ve always wanted to fly a plane, but when you’re 5 minutes away from actually doing it, that’s when it gets real.
and i have to say, i am so happy that i didn’t freak out being in that tiny cockpit as i literally turned the plane in the sky! absolutely the most phenomenal wedding present ever!
and afterwards i had this huge surge of confidence! i’d forgotten this dream of mine! and now i remember that super brave girl inside!

What an awesome gift. I don't know if you caught it… my husband and I are restoring an old airplane hangar into a home and space for my studio, Gadanke.
I adored reading about your first flight. I hope you can share MORE. 🙂
