Juliette Crane Business for Creatives

Business for Creatives is an 8 week program that will help you sell your art and share your joy of creating, so you can find more time to create.

For years, I stopped painting. All of my work ended up in the basement or trash because I didn’t know how to make money from my art. I felt my creativity didn’t matter.

I went to art school, but they never mentioned anything about the business side, so I’m sharing all of the successes, failures and lessons I’ve learned as a full-time artist and entrepreneur to make things easier for you.

My business has supported me for seven years and in my third year I reached the celebrated six figures a year.

Streamlining where I spend my time and realizing what I enjoy doing most has led to thousands of customers and students around the world, press on, four books on Amazon, eighteen online classes, opportunities to teach in-person, sales in galleries and shops, and, most importantly, I have built a lifestyle I love that allows me to travel, paint and share my passion with others.

Business for Creatives is an action oriented class. I’ll give you concrete ways to make money from what you create, use social media to market your work, take better photos, build a following, grow your newsletter list, launch a successful online shop, get published, sell originals and prints and so much more.

I’ll share all of the email templates I’ve built up over the years for negotiating contracts, handling commissions and more. I’ll also give you the social media templates I use to launch and market my work (there’s no reason for you to reinvent everything when you can spend that time creating instead).

My husband Brian of HumaniITy is also my IT guru and will be sharing ways he has helped me implement the appropriate technology into my business… to streamline social media and make bookkeeping easy. He will be sharing videos covering:

  • Social media scheduling tools
  • Analyzing website traffic data with Google Analytics
  • Utilizing free tools for book keeping
  • Choosing the right website hosting platform
  • Tools for video editing
  • Using Google Apps to streamline your business and look more professional

My goal is for this class to save you hours of time that me and my husband (an IT guru) have already spent researching software, social media, teaching opportunities, resources, strategies, frames, pricing and different venues and ways to sell your work.

Selling what you create doesn’t need to feel impossible or overwhelming, sharing your art is a service. I’ll teach you ways to do this effortlessly, so you save time and don’t feel sales-y.

You’ll also have lifetime access to our online business community, which means you’ll always have a place to connect, get inspired and feel supported.

I really want you to get as much as you can out of this training program, so I’ll be doing a Q&A during class and hope you’ll submit any questions you have to help your business grow.

Selling my artwork and sharing it with you for a living is something I never thought possible. I wish for you to live your dreams too and I can’t wait to work with you to build a lifestyle you love.

Who Should Take Business For Creatives?

Business for Creatives is for any artist, maker, creator or doer who is interested in growing their online presence and making money from what they create.

Whether you’re new to selling your art or looking to grow, this class will teach you how to market your work effectively and organically so you can increase your audience and build your business.

The goal for this class is for you to stop feeling stuck and start feeling full of ideas and naturally sell what you create. If you can do that, you will become a more confident artist and business owner.

While I reached the celebrated six figures a year in my third year of business, this is not a class on how to get rich quick or be super scheme-y and slimey about it all.

This is a course about finding ways to naturally sell what you create and share your passion so you can grow your business in a way that allows you the time and freedom to live life the way you love.

By far, owning my own business has the been the hardest I’ve ever worked, but it has been so rewarding to have the opportunity to inspire others around the world and live a life where I feel I’m fulfilled and making a difference.

My Story

I stopped doing art for years after college because I didn’t know how to make money from it. I felt my creativity didn’t matter. I’d gone to art school, but no one ever mentioned how to navigate the business side. That’s why I’m teaching this class.

Things are changing so quickly right now with social media and online business. It’s possible for anyone to make money from their art.

I’ve had all sorts of jobs- arts and technology journalist, editorial assistant, photographer, gallery manager, graphic designer, floral designer, landscaper, web developer and computer programmer. Nothing ever seemed to fit. But having all of those jobs helped prepare me in different ways for my life as a full-time artist and entrepreneur.

In 2009, I began selling my artwork and cards to friends and family. I started a facebook page, twitter account and blog. I felt like there was no way anyone I didn’t know would ever purchase my paintings. I began reaching out to other artists and makers and in 2011 I launched my first online class, How To Paint An Owl.

Along the way, I’ve focused on what I enjoy doing most, which has led to thousands of customers and students around the world, press in Glamour Magazine, Somerset Studio and, being published in multiple books, creating four books of my own, launching eighteen online classes, opportunities to teach in-person, sales in galleries and shops, and, most importantly, I have built a lifestyle I love that allows me to travel, paint and share my passion with others.

Juliette’s in-person workshop allowed me to prove to myself that I CAN create, and most of the fun is in that process, not the end result. – Lisa Devries
Juliette’s classes are soul-filling! I WISH I could express how you have changed my vision and freed my mind.” – Dana Strickland
I especially like the fact that you embrace when you make mistakes, when things are not working, and then explain your thought process when you fix them. I have discovered that when I teach like this in my classroom, my students are quicker to embrace their own mistakes and learn how to problem solve! Thank you for teaching in this way because it’s how I learn best…by fixing my mistakes! – Jessica Jidas
