This painting was one that I did just for fun. And those always seem to become my favorites.
Most often when I begin a piece, I set an intention for a feeling I’d like to express. But with this painting, I just wanted to play with some of the gelli prints I’d been making.
So I wasn’t scared about coming up with a weird character.
And, layer by layer, this funny guy came out of the paint and paper.
thanks, crystal. i loved that girl's face too. but a big part of me was so pushed out of my comfort zone with that face, i had to change it. i'm happy to have the progress photo and go back to it again 🙂

For some reason I really identified with the woman's face. A lot of emotion there, but you moved onto the next step.
