Whenever I allow myself to have fun, my paintings come to life.
Sometimes all I need is to get out of my comfort zone and start having fun again so I can stop thinking so much and really get into a flow.
That’s when a whole new world opens up and creativity is set free.
The other day when this happened I was in the middle of this new painting (she’s called ‘Dreams Of Light,’ 11″ x 14″ on stretched canvas).
I had to take many steps away from this piece to be sure I didn’t cover up her color. I wanted to keep her bright, so she seems to be finding and spreading her light.
I went back to splattering neon acrylic inks over wet liquid watercolors. I stood on my chair and squirted everything from up high.
Then, when I didn’t like the look of a drip, I took a foam brush and slapped it down as if I was swatting a fly to see what would happen (I got this incredible feathery effect).
This is one of the easiest ways to give freedom to a painting as I cover up the parts I don’t like. It almost feels too easy – dripping and playing with color, but I’ve learned to follow my joy (that’s when the magic happens).
I’ve started a few more smaller paintings and can’t wait to share them with you soon!
I’d be honored to have you join me for this new class. It’s going to be so good and I can’t wait to see the gorgeous paintings you create!
With love + gratitude,
xo Juliette
PS I recently sat down with the lovely Kate Shepherd for The Creative Genius Podcast to talk about my process and journey to becoming a full-time artist.
I hope it gives you a bit of inspiration! We talk about the power of intuition, embracing playfulness, and overcoming false beliefs to unleash the infinite creative intelligence within us. How creativity can be a potent force for healing and growth, transforming both our individual lives and the collective soul of humanity.
