I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather. Currently, I’m in my backyard, listening to the birds and admiring the blooming lilac tree outside my studio.

I love this time of year when spring bursts into summer. The rainbow of colors in the garden and the sky, especially at sunset, makes my heart sing and inspires my creativity in new ways.

This past weekend we visited the state park, and I brought my sketchbook along. It reminded me how much I’ve always loved painting, especially outside.

Over time, I’ve learned that when I allow myself to play — to have fun, to experiment — I’m better able to capture the soul in my paintings, whether I’m working on a dreamscape, an abstract, a figurative piece, or an owl.

Today, I’ll be in the studio, starting the first layers for my new collection of dreamscapes and owl paintings. I can’t wait to share them with you!
