Lately I’ve been sitting and painting in my sketchbook. I have been working on pieces for my upcoming storybook.
There is something so calming and simple about sitting down with just a few art supplies and paper. It doesn’t take a lot of time. And when I started this new painting series, I had no idea where it would lead me.
I just knew, that I didn’t have time or energy to spend hours in my studio.
I needed to do something that I could create anytime, anywhere, no matter what was going on around me.
From there, these new works developed.
And once I had completed a few of the paintings, I was inspired to write their story.
Since these new works reminded me of a picture book, I wanted to write a simple story for them with a lot of meaning.
As I wrote and revised the story, I kept painting and sketching.
Most of the sketches that I will include in the storybook are created with stabilo pencil and water (using a thin brush to bleed out some of the lines and add shading). I also started adding one other art supply to some of the pieces… either an oil paintstick, a chalk pastel or watercolor.
If you’d like to see how it all progresses daily, I am always posting new paintings on my facebook, instagram and google++
I cannot wait to share more details with you very soon!
Do you have any inspirations and dreams that have been calling you?
This time of year always makes me want to settle for hours in the garden and paint and sketch outdoors. I’ll be sure to look for your inspirations and dreams in the comments of this post.
May all of your dreams come true!
