This painting is one I created around this time last year. I used to wear my hair in space buns, and this woman is a quiet nod to Star Wars—a film I first saw in theaters as a child (mostly with my hands over my eyes!) and didn’t watch again until my husband reintroduced it to me years later.

I’ve always been fascinated by space. A few weeks ago, we caught the Perseids meteor shower—a yearly tradition that always leaves me in awe. That’s what this piece is about: the vastness of the universe and all of us in it, together. I painted her with the energy of a hologram sent through time, carrying a message of hope.

This is an original 12″ x 12″ mixed media painting on canvas by artist, Juliette Crane.

The sides are 1″ deep, so the painting continues over the edges and it is ready to hang with or without frame.
