……….
I am having so much fun painting backgrounds.
And, if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know I usually don’t get attached to my backgrounds. Usually it’s no problem for me to paint over them and add my whimsical characters.
But lately, I am just in love with these backgrounds and I don’t want to change a thing!
I just adore cutting out shapes and layering lokta papers with origami and tissue papers. Then I add some acrylic inks, spray inks, paint and water soluble oil pastels.
While I am loving to paint my characters on sketchbook paper and book pages, I am most loving to create my backgrounds on canvas panel or wood.
That in itself has sort of separated the two processes and left me with all of these backgrounds- as is.
For now, I’m just leaving them. They’ve definitely inspired my paintings in new ways. And, maybe later, they will lead me in a new direction.
What have you been loving to create most these days? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by, for sharing and for commenting with such kindness!
Happy painting!

Hi Juilette, You have really been creating so much on a daily basis, I can see it is stretching you! My favorite thing to create are gelli prints or painting w stencils on deli paper and then tearing it and collaging with it, it seems to melt into the canvas/paper. Loving the Serendipity class and anxious to hear about your new class for spring!

Juliette, I have admired your work for over a year now. I can’t wait to take a course from you one day soon. Beautiful backgrounds!

thanks, Jennifer! the most fun i’ve had playing with the gelli plate is with the deli wrap. it’s the thing that also seems to work best when i add the prints to my paintings… just like donna said… it melts in đŸ™‚
