HOW TO PAINT AN OWL was the first online course I created and, as you know, owls are especially dear to my heart.
I created HTPAO1 after Somerset Studio magazine asked me to write an article on how I paint my owls. That led me to teaching local owl painting workshops. Then, when I shared photos from my in-person classes on my blog, so many of you asked for an online class, that I launched HOW TO PAINT AN OWL 1 in March 2011.
For me, it is always important to take that first step, usually pushing myself out of my comfort zone. You never know where it will lead. Painting has always been my dream and it means so, so much to me to be able to share my creative process and artwork with you.

The little island I live on here in the Gulf of Mexico is actually a designated owl sanctuary (burrowing) and two houses down from me is a nest (plus three more on my street!), so I see these guys constantly. I would LOVE to learn to paint them. They have so much personality!
