I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather. Currently, I’m in my backyard, listening to the birds and admiring the blooming lilac tree outside my studio.

I love this time of year when spring bursts into summer. The rainbow of colors in the garden and the sky, especially at sunset, makes my heart sing and inspires my creativity in new ways.

This past weekend we visited the state park, and I brought my sketchbook along. It reminded me how much I’ve always loved painting, especially outside.

So I thought I’d share a demo painting of a dreamlike watercolor portrait. This piece was created as part of my Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is 30% off right now.

My process is all about returning to the joy of painting—letting yourself play with color and trust your creative voice. It’s not about getting it “right”—it’s about finding your rhythm and strengthening your creativity.

The invitation is to feel more creative and inspired. Take a moment to make something just for fun. Paint more loosely and spontaneously. Grab a sketchbook and paint outside.
