All of my early paintings ended up in the basement or trash.
It hurt my heart to not create, yet I buried my desire and, for years, I stopped painting.
But I learned I couldn’t not be an artist.
The other day I went back to a BIG painting at my easel (which always makes me take myself too seriously).
I just couldn’t let go.
I needed to return to having fun, so I put the canvas on the floor and started splattering acrylic inks and liquid watercolors on top to cover up the white space. Then I dumped a bunch of water on top to see what would happen.
I made a huge mess, but was having so much fun! I forgot about trying to be perfect.
This new painting is one that seemed to come out of the layers like magic… she’s called ‘Let In The Blessings’ and is a reminder to let things be easy, light and full of peace. I hope she inspires you too!
I’m finishing up a few more large female portraits and can’t wait to share them with you very soon.
