I don’t believe in balance.
I found that trying to achieve any sort of balance in art and life was completely stressing me out. The balance never happened.
Instead, I’m learning to embrace the ebb and flow and expect change.
That means I’ve deepened my painting practice. Creating is one of the things I know I can always come back to for grounding whenever everything else feels chaotic.
I know getting creative will always bring me calm, even if it’s just for a few minutes of coloring or sketching in my journal.
The other day I didn’t have much time to paint, so I got out a few acrylic inks and just dripped and splashed color. I made a complete mess, then walked away to let it dry.
When I came back I saw this woman in the paint (she’s called ‘Messenger Of Hope and Light’ 11” x 14”).
She inspired me to play and feel the joy of the moment. I hope she inspires you too!
In this video preview, I share how I begin to transform a painting I am not liking into something new, using the existing layers as a starting point as I layer my favorite mixed media supplies. In class, I share the inspiration behind each painting, so you can learn how to paint more freely and easily develop your own style.
“This course was the in depth instruction that I was really looking for to take some of the quick pieces I’d done and really develop them further. Watching Juliette work through a piece until she really felt the character develop was so helpful. Knowing that I wasn’t making any mistakes and that if something wasn’t working – just changing my tool or supply could get me right through that tough spot was so useful.”
Happy Painting!
