I’m sitting in my studio, watching the breeze in the gardens. The cosmos and lilies are in full bloom, like a rainbow. The birds are singing, and I’ve just put away the last of my art supplies from my retreat. I always wait a few days before unpacking, and I have to say, it has all made me reflect on the amazing magic that happened over the weekend. I’ll share more about that with you soon.

A few single rooms also just opened up for my France Retreat.
This week, I also dropped off paintings for an exhibit in Madison, Wisconsin. I hope to host an opening in the next few months and would love to meet you there! I chose to include paintings that are full of color and calm. I’ve been craving rainbows along with soft, soothing colors. I think it has something to do with how invigorated I feel in my creative practice, and summertime really sparks my love for color and joy.
Now I have a few days of R&R, and we have plans to take out the boat and just sit and watch the sunset. The first year we moved to our current house, we went for a hike around the nearby lake, and I admired the slow pace of it all. Taking time to just admire the sky reflects my love of nature, wonder, and magic.
If you are ever looking for creative inspiration, here are a few simple guidelines I follow…
Here are three tips for uncovering creative inspiration:
🎨 *Set Small Goals: Break your painting into smaller steps. Completing these can build momentum and make the overall task seem less daunting. That’s why I start my paintings with simple shapes and stages.
🎨 *Take Breaks: Working on many paintings at once, forces me to take small breaks in between while each layer dries. This always offers me a new perspective, and keeps me in a flow.
🎨 *Start a Sketchbook Practice: Sketchbooking has become a meditation for me, completely helping to clear my mind and relax.
Painting has always been a healing process for me, and I’m pouring my heart and soul into a beautiful new collection inspired by color that I can’t wait to share with you soon!
Thank you for all of your kindness and support ❤️ I also shared more of my sketchbook practice in this blog post… you can read more here.
Happy painting!
