In this painting class, you’ll learn simple techniques that will give you the courage and confidence to loosen up and let go.
I started my Serendipity courses in response to feedback I’d gotten from my students. So many had said they wanted to loosen up and develop their own style, but whenever they learn from another artist they feel like they’re just copying.
So each month we’ll build on what we’ve already learned. I’ll show you how I take the same supplies and techniques and use them in different styles so you can make them your own.
Inside this year-long course, you’ll find more than twenty-four projects that will help you find your artistic voice. That means we’ll be painting portraits, whimsical animals, girls, imaginary creatures, art journal pages and so much more.
In each video I share my honest struggles and mistakes along with the techniques I use to work through those frustrations so I can paint more freely.

HOW IS SERENDIPITY DIFFERENT FROM MY OTHER CLASSES?
Serendipity 1 and 2 are all about how I evolve and develop my style over the year, so with each main lesson I share specifically what inspired and influenced each piece to help you strengthen your own unique style and overcome creative blocks. There will be many painting videos with elaborate backgrounds, characters in landscapes, and lots of lessons where I cover up parts of a painting again and again and share how I work with mistakes and keep adding layers.
There are also shorter (10-30 minute) bonus lessons each month that share loosening up exercises and pieces without so many layers that help me get over creative blocks, develop new characters and find new techniques.
This course includes all new paintings, mixed media and background techniques. so if you’ve already taken another class with me, this will take everything a lot further and give you so many new characters and ways to paint. I’ll also share more layers and techniques for enhancing what you learned to paint in my others classes.
If you haven’t taken a class with me, it’s not a requirement to take this course.
HOW MY ONLINE COURSES WORK
I design my courses with busy people in mind, so it’s easy for you to focus on what you’d really like to learn when you have the time.
The lessons are designed to make creating fun, easy and completely un-intimidating. I’m a big believer in taking the parts you love most and running with them so you enjoy getting creative. And, if you don’t have the time, there’s no need to go through everything all at once.
Feel free to share your artwork whenever you like. There’s a private discussion group, gallery and facebook group for students to connect, share, support and learn from each other. All in an encouraging and friendly environment that you can enjoy right from home.
You don’t need any painting experience or expensive art supplies to take these classes-all you really need are a few paints and brushes (your hands work just fine) and an openness to play.
Sorry, no refunds once you have paid for this course.
Is Serendipity 1 a requirement to take this class?
Serendipity 1 is not a requirement for this course. All of my classes are designed to be taken in any order, for anyone and everyone.
When is this course?
Class begins June 11th, 2018. Registration closes June 18th.
How long do I have access to the course?
you’ll have access to the class for two years.
I’ve never taken an online course. How does it work?
serendipity is an online painting class. once you register, you will receive the login and password needed to access the class’s private website. the class website consists of a private blog (where lessons are posted in the form of text, videos and photos), a private gallery (where students can upload their artwork and make comments on others’ paintings, if they wish), an optional facebook group, and a private discussion group (where students can ask questions, make comments and get to know one another). i’ll be in the discussion group and gallery, answering questions and making comments too.
How Do I Sign up?
sign up by clicking the register button on this page to proceed with your paypal payment. if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email Brian at email@example.com
What If I’ve taken one of your other online courses…will I still learn something new?
absolutely! all of the mixed media techniques, backgrounds and paintings are completely new. we’ll get more into painting and layering too. so if you’ve been wanting to take your animals, girls or owls a bit further, this is the class to take.
Do I have to complete every assignment?
no. but i know you’ll learn even more and have a ton of fun if you do. and, please, don’t feel rushed! you’ll have plenty of time.
Do I need to buy all of the supplies?
not at all. i only have a few supplies and brands that i recommend in particular because i’ve found they work best together. and you’ll only need a scanner or camera if you want to participate in our online gallery.
Can I share the workshop site, info and videos with a friend?
please keep in mind, i have really put all my heart into this workshop (and all of my paintings) and i’d really appreciate it if you didn’t share the links with anyone who has not paid for the workshop.
Do I need to know how to paint, draw, or be artistic?
this workshop is for anyone and everyone. whether you haven’t painted since you were in kindergarten or if you’re an avid crafter or artist looking to learn new techniques, this class is for you. my intention is to get a fabulous group together and share with you a place to begin so you’re creativity can wander in an encouraging environment.
Do I have to post my work to the private gallery?
of course not. but i really love looking at everyone’s work and seeing just what makes each piece different. i know others do too. this is a totally private, safe, positive and encouraging group. and i wouldn’t have it any other way!
Can I get additional critique from you?
of course. i’ll be here to make comments and give feedback whenever you need it for a year.
What if I get behind?
Please don’t feel rushed. You have time to work at your own pace.
Can I share my work on my blog, FB page, instagram?
Absolutely! It’s always nice to spread the love and also mention me and this class or provide a link back to my website (http://juliettecrane.com). And if you do share your artwork, I’d love to know about it, so please tag me #juliettecrane

I kindly ask that you use good judgement when doing so. If you take what you learn from what I share, be sure to add your personality and make it into your own.
If you are entering your work for publication or any other submission, please be sure you have infused the artwork with your own original ideas.
If you’re selling originals or reproductions of something similar to one of my characters or class projects, please also mention my name and the class you’ve taken as your influences in either your shop listing or on social media and include a link to juliettecrane.com.
Are payment plans available?
absolutely. when you click on the button to register, you will have the option to choose a payment plan.
Thank you!! For teaching me to let go…splash paint…enjoy…and discover the joy of serendipitous moments. – Sandy Leamon Derryberry
I can’t tell you how much I learn from you explaining what you’re doing wrong and right while you’re painting. I feel so much more confident in my own art because of this, I am forgiving myself when I can’t paint a perfect picture, make a perfect doll or quilt on the first try” -Peggy McDevitt
Juliette shows how she works through creating a painting. What is especially great about this, besides the tips on technique, methods, and art materials, is that she shows how she goes through the ugly stages or the “this isn’t working” stages and pushes through. It is very inspirational (and comforting) to see a person who paints for a living also struggles with these issues.” -Renata Wurster
